Re: Gazza
I have read that his main mental health issues stem from when he saw his best friend die in a car accident when he was really young. And at the time Gazza was meant to be looking after him.

Sadly he does look in a ever increasing mess now, well, from what the media portray in any case. I hope, rather than expect, he can get the clear help he needs to survive.

Re: Gazza
Surely there are chaps that have come through the shit he is in. He is in a better position than most given the money that would be thrown at him and the potential top level coaching jobs that could keep him occupied.

I know people have tried in the past but surely a concerted 24/7 effort could work. All that will follow his death just seems hypocritical.

I think some people are beyond help unfortunately , Best was and Gazza's condition seems if anything worse.

Re: Gazza
I agree with the posts about a lack of support.

When drink and mental health issues finally kill him the press will go into over drive 24/7 about the sad loss of a genius. You will see his greatest moment a thousand times and every club in the country will do a minutes applause.

I know it has to start with him but surely there is enough money in the game to get this guy sorted properly.

Re: Gazza
Feel sorry for the bloke, obviously got some serious issues, but its not like this is the first time, been a good few years now, and every few months hes gets himself in the papers again, like many in the same boat his friends and family have maybe given up, cant say i blame them, tough call though, very easy to say why cant he help himself, just isnt that simple.

Re: Gazza
From recent experience, it was unresolved mental health issues and the unwillingness to accept them led me to self medicating with alcohol as a result. Once in the system to.deal the the MH issues, the alcohol was a piece of piss to.deal with. For me anyway.

It's patently obvious that Gascoigne has MH issues and from what I have read the only treatment he seems to have had are alcohol related ones. This is not attacking the true cause in my opinion. He doesn't need the priory, he needs a section.

Yes I understand the disease is far more dangerous and unfortunate than extreme addiction but maybe wrongly I used that word to suggest how very tough the worst forms of Addictions can destroy some people even killing them.
I simply put it beside the worst illness many will ever get although obviously not the same.

Apart from the bruises he doesn't look too bad, he's looked a lot worse. How does he get all these cuts and bruises anyway? Just from falling about all over the shop?

Its tragic, as sad as George Best. He will not survive if he can't find the help he needs

The 'where are his mates' stuff doesn't wash. My best mate is pretty much the same. Only so much you can do. Now at the stage of just 'being there' when he shows up after his latest meltdown. And waiting for the inevitable.

Toms ..yes he is clearly a disturbed individual, but would we be this understanding, bearing in mind his misdemeanours if he hadn't been a gifted footballer?

Re: Gazza
I would guess he has had more support and treatment that 99% of other drunks.
Has he ever considered getting a job or having some sort of purpose to his life?
